Bangladesh’s lady cadet Jannatul Mawa has brought pride to the nation by earning the prestigious Commandant’s Overseas Medal from the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul, Abbottabad.
Mawa, a commissioned cadet of the Bangladesh Army, received the award during the passing-out parade held at PMA, where she completed her military training as part of the 26th Lady Cadet Course. The medal was presented by General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, in recognition of her exceptional discipline, leadership, and outstanding performance among international cadets.
The ceremony also marked the commissioning of cadets from the 152nd PMA Long Course, 71st Integrated Course, 37th Technical Graduate Course, and other international training programs. Cadets from several friendly countries — including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Qatar, Iraq, Palestine, Nigeria, and Yemen — participated in the event.
In an official statement, the High Commission of Pakistan in Dhaka congratulated Jannatul Mawa on social media, acknowledging her success as a “symbol of excellence and cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan in military education and training.”
This achievement underscores the growing participation of Bangladeshi women in international defense training programs and highlights Bangladesh’s commitment to empowering women within the armed forces.
Military analysts have praised the recognition as a milestone for Bangladesh’s military diplomacy and women’s leadership. The award positions Jannatul Mawa as a role model for young officers aspiring to serve the nation with distinction both at home and abroad.
