BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that there is no risk of election engineering in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum.
Speaking to journalists at his residence in Thakurgaon on Tuesday (10 February) morning, he said government officials would perform their duties properly.
“We have spent the last 16 years fighting to restore democracy. Our expectation from this election is to bring democracy back. A fair election will provide an opportunity for state reform. So far, the election environment has been favourable,” Fakhrul stated.
He added that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman’s visit to Thakurgaon had a positive impact and election engineering issue would not affect the election process. “Government officials will fulfill their responsibilities. I do not see any risk of election engineering this time,” he said.
In reply to a query, BNP secretary general said, “I do not consider the rival parties weak. Jamaat carries out campaigns using various tactics and spreads false information, but we are pursuing positive politics.”
