Bangladesh Army has expressed confidence that the law and order situation across the country will return to normal once the planned national election in February 2026 is held, paving the way for troops to return to their barracks.
Lieutenant General Md Mainur Rahman, General Officer Commanding of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), told a media briefing at Dhaka Cantonment that the army anticipates a free, fair, impartial, and festive election in line with the government’s roadmap.
He stated that the military will provide full support for the elections, which will strengthen stability, normalize law and order, and allow soldiers to resume regular training and modernization activities.
Deployment and Election Preparedness

The army plans to deploy 90,000 to 100,000 personnel nationwide, a figure higher than in previous elections.

The troops are currently engaged in aid to civil power, assisting in maintaining law and order since the political transition.

Lt Gen Rahman assured that all members of the army remain loyal, united, and trustworthy under senior leadership.
He also noted that propaganda and false claims questioning the army’s integrity have been circulated by vested groups, but urged the public to focus on unity and progress.

For the past 15 months, the army has operated in the field, impacting routine training activities.

Despite the challenges, the army has maintained professionalism and readiness, demonstrating capability in internal security, disaster management, infrastructure development, and international peacekeeping.
