DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 : The signing of the July National Charter 2025 will now take place on October 17, instead of October 15, to allow broader public participation, officials said.
The decision was made at a meeting of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) held on Saturday at the state guesthouse Jamuna, chaired by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
After the meeting, NCC Vice-Chairman Prof Ali Riaz told reporters that the signing would be a “historic event.”
“To ensure participation of interested citizens, the ceremony will be held on Friday afternoon at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad,” he said.
Earlier, on October 9, the NCC had announced that the charter would be signed on October 15 (Wednesday) afternoon.
The Chief Adviser and NCC Chairman Prof Muhammad Yunus will lead the ceremony. Representatives from various political parties, alliances, and socio-professional groups are expected to attend.
Saturday’s meeting was attended by NCC member Badiul Alam Majumdar, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider, among others.
