The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 1,744 cases against motor vehicles and drivers over the past day for various traffic rule violations, according to a statement issued by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to bring Dhaka’s traffic system under proper management.
As part of the drive on November 18, police impounded 413 vehicles and immobilized 105 more.
Traffic divisions across the capital filed the cases as follows: Motijheel 332, Wari 151, Tejgaon 228, Mirpur 178, Gulshan 292, Uttara 240, Ramna 234, and Lalbagh 189. Cases were lodged against motor vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles.
The DMP said the campaign will continue to ensure discipline on the city’s streets.
