Close to 195,000 postal ballots from expatriate voters have been received in Bangladesh ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election and Referendum, according to official sources.
Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the OCV-SDI Project on Expatriate Voter Registration, reported to BSS that a total of 766,862 ballots have been sent to expatriates registered through the “Postal Vote BD” app.
Of these, 522,315 voters living abroad have received their ballots, and 464,225 have cast their votes. Additionally, 418,962 ballots have been deposited in post offices or mailboxes in various countries.
Bangladesh Post has also forwarded 1,859 ballots to returning officers.
The Election Commission (EC) has started dispatching postal ballots to voters residing within Bangladesh. To date, 646,507 ballots have been sent to registered voters across the country.
As of 11 am today, 58,797 domestic voters have received their ballots, with 43,319 of them having completed voting, and 29,334 have submitted their ballots to post offices or mailboxes.
Salim Ahmad Khan further revealed that a total of 1,533,684 voters, both domestic and expatriate, have registered through the app to participate in the 13th JS Election and Referendum using postal ballots
