The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) today said that no rules were broken over a video shared on social media about postal ballots in Bahrain.
In a press release, the EC said the video, dated January 12, shows ballot envelopes being sorted for delivery.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain explained that on January 11, Bahrain Post handed over 160 ballot envelopes to a colleague of the voters, as the voters were at work and had requested this.
After the issue came to notice, the embassy contacted Bahrain Post and the concerned people. Later, the person returned to the embassy with 129 unopened envelopes that had not been delivered.
The EC confirmed that none of the envelopes was opened and that full secrecy was maintained.
It also said all embassies have been instructed to coordinate carefully so that such incidents do not happen again.
