President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman following his party’s victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The BNP emerged victorious after voting concluded in a festive atmosphere and is now on the verge of forming the next government.
The Jamaat-e-Islami–NCP alliance is expected to serve as the opposition in the upcoming parliament.
In his congratulatory message, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s democratic aspirations and expressed Islamabad’s willingness to work with the incoming government to enhance cooperation in trade, defense, and cultural exchange.
He also voiced optimism that the new political environment in Dhaka would contribute to stronger, more balanced, and mutually respectful engagement across the region.
Officials said the message reflects Pakistan’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation under the new administration.
