On his first working day after taking office, Tarique Rahman is set to begin a busy schedule as Prime Minister. On Wednesday morning, he will start the day by paying tribute to the martyred heroes at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar, Dhaka.
Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was sworn in as Prime Minister on Tuesday afternoon.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, the memorial premises have been cleaned and beautified with fresh paint, and security measures have been significantly strengthened. The entire area is under CCTV surveillance, and public entry to the National Martyrs’ Memorial has been temporarily restricted.
Anwar Hossain Anu, Sub-Assistant Engineer of the Public Works Department, said the memorial altar, lake area, green zones, and entrance paths have been cleaned and prepared.
Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman said a multi-layered security cordon has been established. In addition to uniformed police, plainclothes law enforcement personnel will be on duty.
Special measures have been taken for searches, surveillance, and traffic control in and around the memorial area.
