DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025: Bangladesh received $1.57 billion in remittances in the first 15 days of September, up from $1.29 billion a year earlier, marking a 21.8% increase, according to Bangladesh Bank data.
From July to September 15, expatriates sent home $6.47 billion, compared to $5.43 billion during the same period last year. The central bank said the rise is due to more transactions through formal channels, exchange rate adjustments, and stricter checks on informal transfers.
Remittances remain the country’s second-largest source of foreign exchange after garments, helping stabilize reserves amid external pressures
