Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co Ltd, a Singapore- and China-owned company, is set to invest US$27.57 million to establish a high-end garment and outdoor products manufacturing facility at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Economic Zone in Mirsharai, Chattogram.
With this deal, Journey Outdoors Bangladesh becomes the 50th company to sign a lease agreement with BEPZA EZ.
The agreement was signed at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka between Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Han JunXiao, Managing Director of Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co Ltd. BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain attended the signing ceremony.
The factory will produce around 16 million pieces of high-end apparel and outdoor products annually, including a diverse range of garments such as jackets, ski suits, activewear, jeans, and accessories like bags, tents, hats, and gloves.
The project is expected to create employment for 3,467 Bangladeshi workers.
Expressing gratitude to the investors, Major General Moazzem Hossain reaffirmed BEPZA’s commitment to providing world-class support and a secure environment for foreign and local investors alike.
With this latest investment, BEPZA EZ has attracted a total proposed investment of US$1.11 billion from 50 companies, underscoring its growing appeal as a destination for diversified industrial ventures.
The signing ceremony was also attended by BEPZA officials including Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Engineering); ANM Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance); Md Khorshid Alam, Executive Director (Enterprise Services); Samir Biswas, Executive Director (Admin); and ASM Anwar Parvez, Executive Director (Public Relations), along with representatives from Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co Ltd.
