DHAKA, Sept 19, 2025: The four-day South Asia Trade Fair 2025 started in Dhaka on Thursday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), bringing together leading brands and entrepreneurs from SAARC countries to boost regional trade and cooperation.
The fair showcases a wide range of products including fashion and lifestyle items, electronics, cosmetics, jewellery, processed foods, technology products, home appliances, and kitchenware.
Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman inaugurated the event, organised by the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) with support from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the Ministry of Commerce, and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
Calling the fair an important platform for exchanging ideas, knowledge, technology, and experiences, the Commerce Secretary stressed that South Asia must work together to build a stronger regional economic alliance.
EPB Vice Chairman Hasan Arif suggested hosting such fairs in major cities like Dubai and said EPB will also arrange fairs for local entrepreneurs to improve product branding.
SCCI President Md Jashim Uddin highlighted the need for institutional support to face global trade challenges and urged South Asian leaders to use the region’s resources and manpower for greater economic growth.
Bhavesh R Trivedi, Director of Economy, Trade and Finance at the SAARC Secretariat, said South Asia plays a key role in Asia’s economy and stronger regional networking could open vast trade opportunities.
The inauguration was attended by business leaders, diplomats, and representatives from SCCI and FBCCI.
