Specialist physician Dr. Richard Beale from the United Kingdom arrived in Dhaka today to provide medical support to BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:20 am and went directly to Evercare Hospital, where Khaleda Zia is being treated in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), according to BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.
Shayrul Kabir said the foreign specialist team will review Khaleda Zia’s medical reports and recent test results with the hospital’s medical board to determine the best treatment plan.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 after developing respiratory distress and a lung infection. Her condition worsened early Sunday, prompting her transfer from the Step Down Unit (SDU) to the CCU.
BNP Standing Committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain said preparations are in place to take her abroad if necessary, but the decision will depend on the medical board and specialist assessments. In addition to the UK team, a specialist team from China has also been invited for further evaluation and comprehensive care.
