BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has said that his party will accept the election results if the polls are conducted in a free, neutral, and controversy-free manner.
He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan after visiting several polling centers in Dhaka.
Tarique Rahman said, “If the election is free, neutral, and free of controversy, why wouldn’t we accept the results? All parties will accept it. However, there is one condition—the election must be impartial and peaceful. If the people are able to cast their votes, a democratic beginning for the country can start from today.”
He said, “I visited several polling centers in different parts of Dhaka city. They made attempts last night, and they will surely continue those efforts today as well—so that people can cast their votes in a peaceful environment. For more than a decade, people were deprived of this right. There is enthusiasm and excitement among the people.”
Urging everyone to maintain a peaceful atmosphere, he said, “Let us all work together to ensure that people can exercise their rights in a peaceful and orderly manner. Together, we can take initiatives to build the Bangladesh we aspire to see.”
Responding to a question about how confident the BNP is about victory, he said, “We are confident. Alhamdulillah, we are hopeful about victory.”
