A Dhaka court today set January 13, 2026, for hearing arguments in a case against 18 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her nieces Tulip Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq, over alleged irregularities in the allocation of a plot under the RAJUK New Town Project.
Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 passed the order after Khurshid Alam, the only arrested accused, gave his defence statement through his lawyer and pleaded not guilty.
Earlier, on January 5, the court ended witness testimonies. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya, the investigation officer, was the last prosecution witness and was cross-examined by the defence. In total, 31 witnesses testified in the case.
The ACC filed the case on January 13, 2025, against 16 people and later submitted a charge sheet on March 10, naming 18 accused.
