Govt sets Ramadan office hours

The Advisory Council approved revised office hours for the upcoming month of Ramadan, setting the daily schedule from 9:00am to 3:30pm for public institutions.

The decision was taken at the council’s weekly meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Following the meeting, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed journalists at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, confirming the new timings.

Under the new arrangement, all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous offices will operate within the shortened timeframe throughout the fasting month.

A 15-minute prayer break will be observed from 1:00pm to 1:15pm.

According to the official calendar, Ramadan is expected to begin on either February 18 or 19, subject to the sighting of the moon.

Once the month begins, the revised schedule will come into effect across all applicable public offices.
