National Citizen Party (NCP) candidate Nahid Islam has won the Dhaka-11 constituency in the 13th parliamentary election, defeating his nearest rival, BNP candidate MA Quayum, by 2,039 votes.
Nahid, contesting with the water lily symbol, secured 93,872 votes from 163 polling centres, and Quayum, contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol, received 91,833 votes.
In addition, Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Sheikh Md Fazle Bari Masud got 4,375 votes, Jatiya Party’s Shamim Ahmed bagged 1,048 votes, and independent aspirant Kohinoor Akhter Bithi received 794 votes.
Returning Officer Sharf Uddin Ahmed Choudhury announced the results on Friday morning.
