The interim government has finalized the appointments of Superintendents of Police (SPs) for all 64 districts using a lottery system ahead of the 13th national parliament elections.
The lottery was held Monday at the Chief Adviser’s residence in Jamuna, with Acting IGP and DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, senior Home Ministry officials, and representatives from the Chief Adviser’s office in attendance.
Only officers from the 25th, 27th, and 28th BCS police batches who had not previously served as SPs were eligible. From this list, 64 officers were selected by lottery and will be posted after government approval.
Officials said the lottery system was chosen to ensure transparency and prevent controversies during the election period. Reshuffles for DIGs and police station OCs are also expected to follow the same lottery-based process.
