A court in Dhaka is set to deliver verdicts in two high-profile cases involving 36 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her nieces Tulip Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq, and her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq. These cases pertain to alleged irregularities in the allocation of two 10-katha plots under the RAJUK New Town Project.
According to court clerk Belal Hossain, the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 will likely announce the verdicts at 11 am today.
On January 13, 2026, Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 set February 2 for the judgment after both the prosecution and defense had finished presenting their arguments. The case involves 18 accused individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, her nieces, and others, such as former RAJUK officials and public servants. Notable accused in the case include Md Saiful Islam Sarkar, former RAJUK administrative officer; Purabi Goldar, former senior assistant secretary; and Mohammad Nasir Uddin, former planning member at RAJUK, among others.
Testimonies in the case concluded on January 5, 2026, with 31 witnesses having provided evidence. A total of 18 individuals were charged in the case, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on January 13, 2025, followed by a charge sheet in March 2025.
Simultaneously, the same court set February 2 as the date to pronounce judgment in a second case involving 18 people, including Sheikh Hasina, her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and niece Tulip Siddiq. The case also includes former RAJUK officials and government personnel, such as former housing and public works minister Sharif Ahmed, former assistant director Mazharul Islam, and Mohammad Salahuddin, former personal secretary to Sheikh Hasina.
In total, 28 witnesses testified in this case, with charges formally framed on July 31, 2025, signaling the start of the trial.
