Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has said Bangladesh and China will move forward together to strengthen their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, bringing peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of both nations and beyond.
In a video message on Wednesday, Prof Yunus congratulated China on the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. He called China Bangladesh’s “closest friend and most reliable partner” and praised its achievements in economic growth, technology, poverty reduction, and global leadership.
The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka hosted a grand reception to mark the twin occasions, attended by over 600 guests, including Finance Adviser Dr Salahuddin Ahmed, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, senior politicians, diplomats, scholars, and students.
Ambassador Yao Wen highlighted China’s progress over the past decades, noting its role as a major power with a strong record on peace and security. He stressed China’s readiness to support Bangladesh’s modernisation journey and deepen people-to-people exchanges in 2025, marking the 50th year of bilateral ties.
Adviser Dr Salahuddin Ahmed praised China’s contributions to Bangladesh in infrastructure, education, health, and science, while Adviser Farooki noted that relations between the two nations have reached “an all-time high.”
The evening featured cultural performances by Chinese troupes, photo exhibitions, and thematic booths showcasing enterprise, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
